Margaret Fellows, daughter of Maine Supreme Court Chief Justice Raymond and Madge Fellows, was born November 22, 1909, in Bangor. The family summered on Verona Island.
Margaret graduated from Bangor High School in 1927; attended the University of Maine and studied at Vesper George Art School in Boston. In 1934, at The Farm on Verona Island, she married John White. The couple settled in Bangor and raised two children.
Throughout their courtship and marriage, they shared her love of art through research and geneology in Maine. Margaret studied with Frank Hamabe and other local artists.
John served as president of the Bangor Art Society. With his support and assistance, Margaret created paintings, silkscreen prints and jewelry. John died in 1974, Margaret painted through 1994 and died in 2002. |
